High-Prevalence Stunting in Preschool Children (1–5 Years) Attending Selected Health Centers in a Food Rich Area-Bushenyi District Southwestern Uganda

The prevalence of stunting among children in Uganda and Sub-Saharan Africa is still high, if to achieve the food-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it must urgently invest improving nutrition sanitation. In a food rich area like Bushenyi, chronic undernutrition could be due several other factors than mere scarcity food. Objective(s). This study was carried out determine socioclinical responsible for (stunting) preschool aged 1–5 years selected Health facilities Bushenyi district. Methodology. cross-sectional assessing its associated attending health centers District. Data collected using pretested questionnaire, taking anthropometric measurements (height/length), stool analysis eggs soil-transmitted helminthes. Prevalence presented as percentages. Logistic regression with adjusted ratio performed test association between sociodemographic clinical at bivariate levels analysis. Results. Most were female, median age 2.1 resided semiurban areas their parents. 89.3%. Only 10.7% infested Children likely stunted those who drank unboiled water exclusively breastfed. Conclusion. There high malnutrition district parents’/care takers’ low level knowledge.
